Diana Brenes 5th best junior of the world

At just 17 ​​years of age, Costa Rican judoka Diana Brenes reached the 5th place at the Youth U21 World Tournament, losing the match for the bronze medal agains Melissa Heleine from France, on the -70 kg category.

Her tournament key was tough, having to start against Sarah Kardjadj from Argelia, whom she defeated.

She lost her second fight against Marie Eve Gahie from France, loss that made her take the longest path on the way to bronze medal.

With great character, despite her 17 years, Brenes defeated the representative of Cuba, Fuentes Nairelis with an Ipoon, earning her the chance to go for the bronze medal against French Melissa Heleine, but unfortunately she was defeated.

Diana Brenes is originally from Chirraca, Acosta. When she was 13 she won the Pan American U15 championship, and a month ago she was crowned Pan American U18 and U21 Champion.
