The team of Gersom Carballo and César Fernández moved on Tuesday to the second round of the men's doubles tournament in table tennis in the Central American and Caribbean Games in the Omega Complex in Xalapa, Veracruz.
The Ttcos were imposed without much trouble against Belizeans Carlos Cui and Tyron Tun three sets by zero partial 11-7, 11-9 and 11-5, in the final knockout phase, and moved on to the second round, where they met with Hector Berrios and Richard Pietri de Puerto Rico, more experienced players.
However, with good play and self-confidence, Fernández and Carballo gave a tough fight in the first set, they lost 9-11, but they got defeated 7-11 and 5-11 the following, saiying goodbye to the contest.
The other partner in the men's national branch, consisting of Allan Calvo and Jeison Martinez ran in the first round with Cuban Jorge Campos and Andy Pereira, who defeated in straight sets 6-11 5-11 and 4-11.
Allan Calvo and Jeison Martinez also advanced to the next stage of the individual event, which will continue on Thursday.
