Maximum level of Costa Rican surf

The best day at the World Open Surf that runs in the waves of Punta Rocas in Lima, Peru, was experienced yesterday thanks to the goals achieved by Leilani McGonagle, Lisbeth Vindas, Maykol Torres and Anthony Fillingim, who won between the four, five heats in the fifth round of the competition.

The most important results achieved so far came at the hands of Anthony Fillingim and Leilani McGongale, who returned to the water in main rounds today, and continued advancing to the semifinals of a World Cup and assured them ranked 9th.

Then the turn of Fillingim in round 4 of the main event, the Santa Teresa surfer perhaps in the most disputed heat for tico where combined 12.10 (6.17 + 9.97) in a series that got him the pass with his last wave and lack only seconds to conclude.

"It means a lot to me and I hope for my country aswell these results that I am having. Coming to a World Cup is a golden opportunity for any athlete and that's why I'm going to leave everything in the water. I'm more than ready for my heat tomorrow, " Fillingim said.

With this new victory the tico is currently ranked 9th in the event that started with 98 athletes in its class and a personal record for the surfer of 21 years who play their second World Open.
